As approved at the Renaissance Market Commission meeting on 6/6/94.
- Upon arriving at the Market, select spot and place a marker on it. At this point each spot should have only one market on it.
- By Definition, when the U.T. Tower clock's small hand is on the 8 and the large hand touches the first number of the 12, i.e. when
the tower clock looks like this: (at this time, spaces can't be acquired or changed).

Flipping Rules
a. All quarters flipped must land on the ground.
b. 2 people: one calls, one flips
c. 3 or more people: odd quarter wins or tails are out and heads flip again and continue until odd quarter wins.
- Persons standing alone on a spot at the 8 a.m. chime have won that spot. Winners of a flip have won the spot.
- If not occupied when the small hand is on the 8 and the large hand touches the first of the numeral 12 and at the Tower's chime, all marked spots become alternate spots and they are won by the owners of the markers of the spots.
- Spots won will be surrendered if winners are not back by 10:00 a.m. (as shown on the U.T. Tower clock) chime to set up.
- Any spot without a marker or winner is open to anyone. In case 2 or more people want the same space at the same time, the flipping rules a., b., and c. apply.
- Winner of said space must be physically setting up in space by 10 a.m . Winner cannot give space away if he or she does not want to set up. It then become available to the loser of original flip. If they do not want it, it is open to anyone else (flip if more than one).
- The first selling space on the first selling row which is next to the Market Mural begins at the selling space mark (currently identified by a star on the concrete). This means that no goods or displays may be exhibit ar set up in the space from the edge of the tree bench in an easterly direction to the sidewalk. The fire hydrant and the space around it must be kept clear at all times.
- If a vendor leaves their selling space for an extended length of time (i.e., longer than necessary for restroom use or purchase of meals or minor needs - not to exceed one {1} hour), no other vendor may sell for them past one-half hour of time. The vendor must cover their selling space with a drape and display a sign stating "Closed for Business" while the vendor is away from the area.
- Market hours are 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Any 23rd Street Renaissance Market licensed vendor who does not display their City of Austin license and State of Texas Tax Permit is not in business, and should shut down their display and remove themselves from the Market as a vendor. A vendor may re-open their business in the next available space at such time as these permits can be displayed.
- Artists must bring all their own display equipment.
- Market spaces must be 10' x 10'. Artists' goods are confined to this 10' x 10' space and may not occupy more than one space.
- Any canopies used must be 10' x 10'. Canopies 10' x 20' may be used only with permisson of the neighboring space holders. If neighborhing spaces are empty, canopies are restricted to 10' x 10'.
- When or if amplified musical devices are used, they must be used with headphones to avoid distracting others.
- Only items approved by the Renaissance Market Commission may be sold in the market. A licensed artist may return to any regular licensing meeting and request approval of additional items.
- Artists are expect to behave in a polite, professional demeanor at all times - to other artists and general public.
Definition of non-professional conduct includes but is not limited to:
- Repetitive profanity
- Intimidation or harassment of other artist/vendors or general public.
- A Renaissance Market license may be revoked if a licensed craft person's conduct is a detriment to the market, responsible for continual violations, or if numerous complaints are received from other craftspeople, the general public, or city law enforcement agencies.
